If I had your 2 gallon setup it'd be 6 weeks between water/meth fill-ups. I must drive like an old lady or something. Big Grin Looking forward to more pics of the install. ~Chris

How do you not floor it?? Lol...people keep asking me how long a tank lasts, and I really have no clue...I'm flooring it constantly!

Cool setup Killerfox!

I know huh? I think it's a combination of two things. 1) Before today I didn't have any methanol to refill my tank, so I was kinda babying it. 2) After that fuel cut incident I think subconsciously I'm afraid of it happening again so I let off on the throttle instead of going WOT.

But now that I have the 5 gal. pail we'll see if my habits change. Wink

Well you can't be afriad of #2....you need to try to reproduce it to diagnose it.

just bought one of these.....(those silver kegs next to the meth drum are beer kegs).

200L of race methanol

The methanol drum is nice and all, but I really want to know why you have all those beer kegs??? Big Grin

RE: Aquamist HFS-3 and MINI Tank GB - BostonR56S - 08-31-2011 07:19 AM

haha why NOT have all those beer kegs?!

And not to be a jerk but a side note, 20oz methanol and 5 oz water makes 80% mixture. I know its rough, but 18.75oz methanol then fill to 25 with water will yield 75% w:m. Prob nothing crazy difference, but if you're aiming at 75%, you'll end up saving more methanol in the long run =)

I need to find out who supplies methanol in the 5 gal drums in CT, and for 3.25/gal would be full of win. Whats distilled water going for now a days? used to be pretty cheap by the gallon...

haha i have three of those kegs. I like to brew beer....

for distilled water, do what I did. Just buy a distiller. The water tastes great, and you can use it for coolant water and battery water.

LOL - touché!

I might be doing it wrong but I thought that for 75% methanol concentration you should shoot for around 80% methanol by volume? Plus, I was being lazy and wanted to use the existing marks on the cup. Big Grin You're right though, it's not that hard to just figure out what the 18.75 oz mark is and get a sharpie. But do you know if it's 75% ABV or ABW?

I was basing it off of this Methanol Tech Sheet.

Or maybe it doesn't even matter unless you're getting tuned for a specific concentration, as long as you're consistent with your measurement. I guess that makes sense.

RE: Aquamist HFS-3 and MINI Tank GB - BostonR56S - 08-31-2011 08:50 AM

yea it shouldnt make much of a difference regardless, as not being tuned for it basically relies on the ecu to compensate. Does your TMAP read the lower temps yet? or are you still seeing right around ambient?

Cool thanks, that will make it easier to measure then.

I'm seeing very slightly lower inlet temps, but I'm still on my first tank which Jeff says he mixed at roughly 35-40% methanol / water. I should be at the point where I can try 75% in a day or two and I'll post up my numbers.
