RE: C38...........is it possible? - ColinGreene - 07-09-2012 12:39 AM What kind of 2.0L... lol RE: C38...........is it possible? - Shanne - 07-09-2012 06:39 AM Ford Focus Zetec motor. DOHC old school tech just like our SOHC 1.6L 35lbs of boost. Re: C38...........is it possible? - minimark - 07-09-2012 07:35 AM Sweet numbers indeed!! How long will it run hard with that much boost? RE: C38...........is it possible? - Shanne - 07-09-2012 07:59 AM Talking to me or Jan Mark? Jan's car will run hard like that for a LONG time. Hes a good tooooooooooooooner....plus the TQ is always on a upswing never really peaks The focus, It will run like that for a while too, its a built motor and tuned by a buddy of mine, That thing makes balls out power. Its still running. Making a little more power now that he upgraded his intercooler. The issue is the TQ. Jans motor and Rotrex is always rising with the power, These turbos come on SO HARD, that they like to kill bearings. That is where the tuning comes in. I run -4 degrees of timing at peak tq on my EVO with the High compression and stuff. Jan doesnt really have to do that being he really never sees a peak TQ. So by killing the timing, and killing power at the same time you save the bearings, then you ramp it up FAST to get your TQ back where you want it. The peak TQ is what kills motors, it knocks the bearings right out. So if you got a good grasp on that you will have a long living motor. I would say about 99% of the people on here, couldn't handle a power curve like this one, it would just scare the living piss out of them. Its so harsh, it will jerk the wheel right from your hand.....There is no way to describe it but........Its raw. This is why the Rotrex is so awesome for the Road race people, and the MINI world. While they make awesome power, they will search for traction at 80mph still on street tires, and not yank the wheel from your hand because its a much linear curve, Its not the instant TQ hit you get with a turbo, all this and still fast as hell. The dyno plot was me messing with Jan, wasn't trying to argue or change peoples minds from the Rotrex, he knows I love my turbo's. Hell I think we talk about it every time we are on the phone lol. So back on subject...So are we going to see the worlds first supercharged 500WHP MINI? It was directed to you Shanne, just wondering how it would hold up in say a two hour endurance race? I'm usually always thinking in those terms unless we're talking drag racing... Again, awesome numbers from that little motor!!! Pull some more timing out of it and I think it would do fine. The issue is traction, I would never want to run that curve in a FWD car for a road coarse, It wouldn't go any where it would go straight nicely though when the tires caught traction lol. Coming out of a turn standing on it would be IMPOSSIBLE hahaha. C38...........is it possible? - jcw2006aus - 07-09-2012 08:44 AM Bring on the 500whp MINI..... Although every time I talk to Jan, he just seems to laugh at me RE: C38...........is it possible? - CFMINI - 07-09-2012 08:55 AM Mark - I saw his new 1500 cc injectors - like a firehose!! Those with E85 and a few other things should make 500whp + Craig RE: C38...........is it possible? - Shanne - 07-09-2012 08:57 AM I thought they were 1450's cc.. You need that firehose with E85...You need at least 30% more fuel C38...........is it possible? - jcw2006aus - 07-09-2012 09:07 AM Best thing is E85 race fuel by the drum is about the same cost as AVGAS, and a lot cheaper than 109 race gas! I think next couple of weeks I will start the strip out of the car, ready |
