RE: TVS Final Prototypes - piston - 03-19-2016 05:54 PM I honestly think 400whp and 300wtq is a bit much. Having an OS Giken is a must at that point. Im surprised how much better the car is with one. To be honest, I need far more tire now that I have one then I did before. RE: TVS Final Prototypes - BlimeyCabrio - 03-19-2016 06:50 PM The OSG LSD is a must WAAAAAAAAY before 400/300. Even with just the stroker, my car would have been kinda pointless with just the OEM LSD in it. Yes, the OSG LSD + truly sticky tires (100 treadwear or less, on the track) + real torque is BLISS. You can drive MINI like Ross Bentley says you should... with much more throttle, than i could before. Unless there's a way to keep it tame down low, Jan is working on that. The numbers are higher than I expected--I want as much power that the car can handle without tearing the diff and what not to shreds--if the car is capable of 400, but drivable on the track with "only" 325-350, I'm am totally fine with that. RE: TVS Final Prototypes - Jan - 03-19-2016 07:22 PM you can always use the power in the straights........ RE: TVS Final Prototypes - mini_racer - 03-19-2016 07:48 PM HP and TQ are like money and sex.........it is simply impossible to have too much. So I will gladly take whatever performance that is too much for you, I will put it to good use. That's my plan, but there has to be some balance--if it's impossible to feather the throttle accelerating out of a turn for a nice linear acceleration, i.e. there's so much power/torque the throttle is an on/off switch, then it's too much. A 300WHP MINI is fucking fast, 350WHP is stupid fast, and 400WHP might be call the undertaker fast. I'll take it where it's still controllable--a conservative tune on these type of numbers will still be light years ahead of most other cars. It's a good problem to have, much less of an issue than the alternative. RE: TVS Final Prototypes - BlimeyCabrio - 03-20-2016 06:04 AM Some of this may come down to how the TVS BPV behaves, at part-throttle... RE: TVS Final Prototypes - cct1 - 03-20-2016 08:45 AM Paul, with all due respect, none of us are pro drivers. Driving a car that is way past your ability is never the right answer. It's a much better idea to start conservatively, you can always add the power as you go along, it's already there. Even at partial throttle the top end is going to hit insane speeds, speeds you've never driven at, let alone braked from. You're not even hitting top speed with what you have, but seem to be ok pushing to 400WHP. Or you can be "that guy" (again), who had more than they can handle. Seen it way too many times on the track, everyone thinks they are the world's best driver, and they can handle all the power in the world. Then they find themselves upside down. Some learn from it, some don't. Sorry to be so blunt, but you guys need a reality check. You're getting a bit starry eyed, and throwing common sense out the window. Don't believe me? Ask your instructor next time out what he thinks....These are no longer forgiving kids toys, they are beasts that can bite you. Have some serious respect for what you are about to have, it would suck big time for someone to get seriously hurt. RE: TVS Final Prototypes - Shanne - 03-20-2016 09:46 AM Traction control is just part of he puzzle, but like I told Jan, its not something that should be relied on as it is super hard on an engine when tuned aggressive. I think that Jan should run a BOV on the charge pipe ran off a solenoid for the lower gears to by pass boost pressure. Then in the straights and higher gears, keep it closed. RE: TVS Final Prototypes - cct1 - 03-20-2016 10:13 AM That sounds like a great idea--if we can keep it reasonable down low and have the power up top on the straights, that would be ideal. I want the engine to be nice and cozy, and last a bazillion years, and I'm willing to sacrifice power to get that. It'll still have more than enough power. |
