Until I got married, I'd never had a car under warranty, in fact I had only owned 2 cars. Had them both for about 8 years each. A 1976 corolla wagon I got from my grandfather and fully restored. Then a 92 corolla GTi that I just did wheels, suspension, exhaust and stereo mods to. I did all the maintenance and repairs myself, but the bass player in my band had a engine rebuilding shop, so I had resources. I liked not having a car payment after the GTi was paid off, but unexpected repairs were always a pain in the ass.

Well we got a 2011 golf GTI. DSG with everything other than leather. Has plenty of go and the handling is pretty close to the R56, but feels a little heavier in the comers. The interior is really nice, especially the steering wheel. I still look at Minis on the road and wish I still had mine, but shit happens. Maybe one day when I've got some space to keep it, I might get an R53 GP. Maybe.

they are quite a bit heavier. but a tune will make up for it.

Btw. I have an OEM mini oil filter insert that is free with the purchase of the sweet trunk box I made. It makes the floor flat with the back seats when they are down and has plenty if room to keep all your car crap that is normally rolling around your trunk. Fits like a glove that's shaped like a box on a hand shaped like the trunk of an R56 mini. I'd take $50 for it. If you are curious hit me up for a photo. Did I mention how awesome it is?

I kinda got the vibe apr were the alta of volkswagen. If anything just a tad more boost and a faster spool would be all it needs.

No, Apr makes good stuff far as i know. Id let some of our former vw guys weigh in on that.

I'm looking at their site now. Looks like they know their stuff. Might look into it down the road a bit.
