i-Pod Shit, yes, terrible charging capabilities seems to result in not staying electronically connected. My iPod loses battery charge when left connected in the car and when the iPod battery gets low then it starts messing up.

I used an i-Phone 4 w/DevToaster program for gauges because I am waaaay to lazy to do it correctly. It only stays charged if I use the cigarette lighter plugin adapter, not the USB adapter.

Ugh! That's exactly what's happening! Dodgy

This i-Pod adapter question should probably be in a different Thread. I wonder if anyone has come up with a power boost(amp+) mod for that damn USB adapter??

Edit: I just realized that my kit came with 0.5, 0.6 and 0.7 mm jets so I'm running the largest one at the moment. I'm thinking 0.8 is way to big for me. Yeah, that's what she said.

You can run the .8 with 100%...

The R56 will just keep trimming fuel back till its happy...pretty cool really. When your running 100% you need a bigger jet than you would running 50/50. But you're fine with a .7 I'm sure...its just cool to toss a ton of meth at the 56 and watch the car sort it out by itself....bout the only thing that car is good at! Hahaha

Nice, that's good to know.

I'll probably hit Jeff up and buy a .8 soon. The car really does seem to like more meth. It also seems like I'm going through a tank a lot quicker than I used to. I guess my right foot seems to like more meth as well. Smile

It was probably the end of 2010 / beginning of 2011. It happens so infrequently that I've gotten used to it, for better or worse. I'm thinking of taking it into an independent shop to get their opinion, probably when I get my downpipe installed. I wish the car would just throw a code already.

I had the cold start stumbling intermittently about 2 years ago. Went away after the HPFP was replaced under warranty. I never got any codes before I took it in and complained. The HPFP is covered for 10 years because of all the issues they have had. I'm not sure if the replacement is upgraded or just the same as the original.

The only issue I have like this is a "balking" or hesitation if the car is not completely warmed up and I get on the gas. It's very infrequent. I am wondering if that's what it is? Honestly, I just try and wait until it's warmed up before romping on it and I don't have the problem.
Ah, another R56 issue Dodgy

I don't even roll into boost until water AND oil is warmed up. This is merely starting in 1st gear after I start the car and leave for work in the morning. Hold the throttle a good 10-15% down to get up to 10mph through the parking lot and the car will jerk back and forth and hiccup. 20 seconds later I'll get to the stop light and start in 1st and all will be fine.

RE: Aquamist HFS-3 and MINI Tank GB - Buli - 12-05-2011 12:05 PM

@Silhouette, I was thinking about your HPFP, Meth and stumbling. The HPFP's pressure moves around with rpm on my car. I think this is normal as I am not having any issues. The ECU knows the pressure and adjusts the IDC to get the amount of fuel it needs. If your HPFP is going flaky/intermittent when cold and the pressure is lower then it should be the ECU can try to compensate for this by upping the IDC. All is good until the HFS-3 sees a high IDC and dumps lots of W/M. It would be interesting to see if setting yours HFS-3 to boost control would affect your stumbling, or even shutting it off until it is warm.

RE: Aquamist HFS-3 and MINI Tank GB - BostonR56S - 12-05-2011 12:18 PM

His/my stumbling is independent of the w/m working. The IDC, even if being adjusted by the ecu, is not enough to be triggering the w/m... we are talking about within 10 seconds of starting our cars. If he is romping on it out of his driveway in the morning he should be worried about more than a slight stumble lol.

Erik is correct, it's totally unrelated to the w/m system and the system is definitely not spraying when this happens. It's a nice idea though. But I'm barely touching the throttle when this happens, and for the first 10 min or so I'm always really light on the throttle. Blake has etched the image of broken pistons in my mind. Smile

I'm hopeful from laserguy's experience that if I'm persistent with my dealership I can probably get them to preemptively replace the HPFP.

RE: Aquamist HFS-3 and MINI Tank GB - BostonR56S - 12-05-2011 01:05 PM

The only reason I dont want to go back to the dealer is because they are going to reflash my ecu if they swap it. Also I really dont feel like giving them a diagnostic fee if they don't change it since I'm out of warranty. Stupid dealerships.
