Aquamist HFS-3 and MINI Tank GB
I'm noticing occasionally, especially when the engine is cold, that under mild throttle the meth spray will come on at only a few psi of boost and initially spike to full flow on the gauge before falling back to a lower flow level. The spike seems to be followed by a slight bog in the power. Right now I have the 0.6mm jet installed and no restrictor. Threshold is about 1:00 and gain is about 12:00. Should I try a restrictor? Has anyone tried using the MAP control mode instead of IDC on their R56?

I don't know why the IDC was high. 2010 MCS - RMW Tune, JCW Stage 1 CAI, Helix FMIC, Akropovic High Flow DP, JCW Mid Pipe, JCW Stage 1 Muffler, 17x7 O.Z. Aquamist HFS-3 and MINI Tank GB
The kit has 0.5, 0.7, and 0.9mm restrictors listed as 380cc/min, 680cc/min, and 1080cc/min. I measured 300cc/min at 100% flow with the 0.7mm jet and no restrictor. Seems like the 0.5mm restrictor should be fine so that's what I installed.
I did a flow test with the 0.5mm restrictor and various nozzles. 0.6mm nozzle flowed 250cc/min 0.7mm nozzle flowed 300cc/min 0.8mm nozzle flowed 350cc/min The 0.5 mm restrictor didn't cut the flow noticeably but on a brief drive it did seem to cut down on the initial surge I mentioned. It also kept the flow reading from maxing out the scale on the gauge. I'm pleased with the change. |
