However after taking a look at the connector there is also a yellow wire.. Now I am truly confounded. Huh

I don't think it should be the PRE-CAT o2 sensor - should be the latter?

Check both - one plug may only have 3 wires on like mine.

For AFR you always want the sensor pre cat.

I'm not running a cat so to me it is pointless.

Out of interest - did you say you traced the yellow wire back to what pin on the vipec?

I did not trace the yellow wire anywhere - I cannot find it on my Bentley wiring diagrams... hence the confusion. The green wire is listed as going to pin 9 of the ECU.
