Yeah, not too many options out there for E28's. That car is too nice for track duty - Alpine White over red leather interior that's in fantastic condition. It's got the big 3.5L straight six with the E34 wiring harness and ECU. He's got some combination of brakes that's basically the same as E36 M3, so it's like driving an E30 M3 that's heavier but stops much better.

You can't really see much, mostly the smoke and my brother shaking his head 'cause he knew what happened. This was the second "partial" rebuild that failed. Got the new supercharger on and kicked his butt at Watkins Glen a couple weeks ago. Love that track.

Sorry to hear someone had a bad experience with Stiegemeyer. I've long recommended them for supercharger rebuilds. They are well known in the Mustang community.

At the rate I am discouraging the use of Australian twin screws I hope production is coming along. Most of the people I am talking out of it are people who followed my build, and it kinda takes them by surprise when I say dont do it!

As it was explained to me, a supercharger rebuild is all about tolerance stacking. You have to tear down the blower, put in new parts, and measure the final tolerance. Then you tear it down again, try different new parts, and measure the final tolerance. Repeat until it's within spec. At the factory, they have boxes full of new parts to use. A smaller rebuilder, who is only rebuilding one part of the supercharger, may only have a limited selection of used parts, hence the final tolerance will be greater. Stiegemeier rebuilt my rotors, but they arrived with a large scratch in the black coating - probably a used part.

For each rebuild, I drove around on the street just fine for about a week, but it blew up as soon as it saw sustained high RPMs on the track. If you're like me and you enjoy squeezing out all the air between the pedal and the firewall, get a factory rebuilt supercharger (I got mine from Jan). It's about four times the price and totally worth it. Or get a TVS900; then you don't have to deal with crappy rebuilds because the blower will last a lot longer. #OT

When i called Eaton they said their was no factory rebuild parts available to any company outside of eaton so that was why i elected to not have anyone "rebuild" Mine

Right. New parts vs old parts. Wish I'd known this six months ago.

Also, St. Charles, MO, home of Stiegemeier, is not a nice place. Their Indian casino looks like a county jail.

At this point i dont think there arent any new superchargers left in any great quantity and i think all of the ones that come from mini themselves are refurbs...its gotten to the point where you just have to replace it with another used one essentially and carry on until it dies again...mine is on its way out now as well which blows
