RE: Aquamist HFS-3 and MINI Tank GB
Would a misfire throw a code? I didn't get one, although I guess it could have just stored it. To be honest, I've never experienced something that violent so I wouldn't know. I heard that on some cars the ECU will cut fuel to get rid of excess boost. When you mentioned misfire on the other thread I was thinking that was it also, but I'm still not sure. It's a little scary to reproduce it. It's like someone telling you to run into a wall to see if it hurts.

RE: Aquamist HFS-3 and MINI Tank GB
Yea the boost cuts Erik and I always talk about....there is no fuel cut....it keeps fueling (at least mine does). Depending on how fast/sharp the spike is, it can be a little more violent than other times, but most of the times I would describe the boost cut as "Gentle."
But yes Chris you're right, like I said WM is NOT a solution for the boost cuts. And to answer your question, a misfire SHOULD throw a code, but with this car who the hell knows if it decides to or not. When my piston blew....the car was OBVIOUSLY running on 3 cylinders and I drove about a mile or so home, and then continued to start it up for short periods when I was diagnosing it. It did not throw a misfire code until the 2nd day.....LOL 2006 MINI Cooper S JCW GP (R53)--GP #1599 -RMW FUNstick Cam, RMW Shorty Header, RMW 450cc inj 2014 MINI Cooper (F56)--Midnight Black |

The pump manufacturer does not warranty these units other than DOA. They are not real helpful. Aquamist does warranty for one year "technically" at 50/50. The policy is this: If the pump dies, you send it back to me, if it's a legit failure, Aquamist will fix or replace the unit. If upon inspection it's had water spilled in the motor, gasoline, hydrocarbons, nitromethane, etc put through it, no go, your on the hook for a new pump. So no mounting in the engine bay, don't use a funnel to fill the tank that's been used for oil, gas etc no matter how clean it may seem. Use a brand new container for the meth, etc. if the guy selling you meth is pumping it out of a drum, make sure the pump isn't used for other stuff. Use only 99.9% pure, no top oil etc. VP M1 is the standard. 100% clean meth will not really affect the warranty. You have to decide what concentration meth you want in the back of the car and running through the system. |

Right. Fuel doesn't cut, dv just activates and boost dumps and holds 5psi. I always notice if I keep my foot wot after this it will accelerate slowly and it tends to smell bad. I assume excess fuel burning from the sudden change, smells like a car running rich.

RE: Aquamist HFS-3 and MINI Tank GB
We are starting to dribble some kits out. One today, one tomorrow, another later in the week. We expect to to have a big slug ready first of next week.
Sooper Cooper, your up next and we should have it ready in a few days. First of next week: Lasrguy HbSean Buli Chris Price and maybe one more. If we get the right handed sheetmetal in , BostonR56 and Houser will be right behind these possibly mid next week. We may get more mixed in with these, we'll do our best to get it done. We have Sil88 coming back Friday to help us get a few final pics for the manual. |

RE: Aquamist HFS-3 and MINI Tank GB
Great news! As luck would have it I'll be on vacation beginning Friday and will be out of town traveling so I most likely won't be here to receive my kit. If you want to bump my name down until I get back that's fine by me, unless you think there's a chance it will arrive before the end of this week.
I don't want to chance the package arriving and I'm not here to sign for it. 2009 MINI John Cooper Works |
