Lul "stage 3"
That's always made me laugh. “Have you ever noticed how some people never
have the money to do it right, but can always find the money to do it twice ?” |

RE: Up for trade. 2000 B5 S4 Stage 3
Actually no only dumbasses who don't belong near a car buy into that. The term stage was simply (originally) used to give a general idea of the level the car stands at. Yes depending on money spent and setup, an s4 can range from 380hp- 600hp when stage 3. But it's literal meaning (in this situation) is K04 framed turbos, injectors, and supporting mods. So no its not arbitrary at all. It's a legitimate statement. So when you're talking about the car, instead of listing every single part that goes into it, you can just say it's stage 3. Anyone WHO KNOWS ANYTHING about the platform will understand what it means.

RE: Up for trade. 2000 B5 S4 Stage 3
I think you are not understanding what we are talking about. We understand what the "Stage" part means it just silly how everyone and every aftermarket group uses "Stages" as the naming format.
The below does NOT apply to you but it does most kids that mod cars and have no clue what they are doing. All they get sold on the "Stages" they have. Stage zero = OEM stock Stage 1 = I spent some money on an intake and trim bits. (Modding bug level 1) Stage 2 = I spent more money and added an exhaust some other crap and maybe a canned tune. ( It feels so fast now) Stage 3 = I spent more money and had internal motor work done like CAM, Injectors, header and other things. (it REALY fast now) Stage 4 = Holy shit I can't stop or turn with all this power now so I spent money on big brakes and suspension. ( I should have done this at stage zero and learned to drive the car first) Stage 5 = I spent more money on custom motor build and tune and the car is making crazy power and motor is running perfectly, but the person put 60 grand into a car worth 10 grand and now he cant sell it because they are in too deep. ( $$,$$$.$$) Stage 6 = You are now converting it to a dedicated track car and removing a whole lot of crap that added too much weight. Cooling is a issue now and the OEM stuff will not hold up. Clutch or tranny is shot and needs to be upgraded. * You also find out your suspension and brakes were great for the street but now need the really quality stuff which cost big money. Stage = 7 You buy a second car because "RACE CAR" and the money continues to flow to different "Stages" of the aftermarket world. Now we jump to Stage 15+ After many years and $$$ you may get a sponsorship and win some local races. Maybe you are great and win a national title and drive off into the sunset a very happy man with your winning race car driver dream completed. Now it time to move to Florida play Bingo all afternoon talking about how you had a great car and won a lot of races. You will have Dinner at 3:30 - 4:00 pm and be in bed for Wheel of Fortune and wait for God to call your number. HAHAHA Good luck on the sale of your S4 Dave Great quote " if you are on this forum, high probability that you are already full retard for Mini's" -Jan |

^^^ That's good Dave!
Don't take offense, nothing against you or your car, its just that the stage thing is so over used to sell people a package of goods and it's meaningless as to how the car performs. GP0245 |

Ok, I understand what you're getting at. I come from the audi/vw world and ost people are just assholes and talk a lot of shit about anything they don't know, so naturally I get defensive after living in that world. I apologize for jumping to conclusions.

RE: Up for trade. 2000 B5 S4 Stage 3
WOOO HOOOO Now I know. I am currently at Stage 5! But I cannot drive my car because it's still in pieces waiting for fabricators to toss magic Fairy Dust on the collecting dust that hasn't blown off between being towed from place to place... Thanks dave!! Maybe that's stage 5.5 when it's all done???
Threw in the towel, bought a Prius. |
