RE: Aquamist HFS-3 and MINI Tank GB
Just checked the battery voltage. Only 12.04V. Seems a bit low. Maybe my battery is just on the way out. I think its the original. Probably time to replace it anyway. Sorry to side-track this thread if this is an unrelated problem. I appreciate the input.

RE: Aquamist HFS-3 and MINI Tank GB
Hmm, when I load my tune in my 08 and the tach cycles through the warning symbols, I still see the steering wheel + !. Though I've never been able to lock it, the symbol still exists.
I don't want to make anyone sound stupid, but if your steering wheel is locked on a non MINI, the way to unlock it is to put the car/key into Accessory mode (cel light on), and wiggle the steering wheel CW and CCW till it unlocks. This isn't the trouble you're running into, right? Just want to make sure incase it was something small that was missed. Also, if you tried the battery thing, make sure to step on the brake pedal a few times to drain out the rest of the juice in the system after unplugging. Make sure the taps you used in the ECU aren't completely cutting off one of the lines (aka the tap cut the wire in half). Also, do you have an alarm? It could be in safety/lock out mode? Stupid and no brainer ideas, but just want to make sure we didn't miss anything of the obvious. I'm curious what is causing this and why Mini removed the feature from the 08 and newer models? Maybe the dealer can remove this programming from your car also? Unless you like it... Red icon with steering wheel and padlock and the car won't try to turn on. Start button just toggles between off and accessory mode. Arghh!!! Dealer said to tow it in but I'm going to check with the local independent mini shops first. I'm out of warranty. |

Sorry to hear man. I bet an indie shop with the right tool will be able to unlock it. RMW tune | JCW exhaust | Helix FMIC | Howerton / Aquamist HFS-3 Life is hard. RE: Aquamist HFS-3 and MINI Tank GB
OK so I haven't really been playing with the Aquamist lately, it's just been quietly doing its thing at default settings (threshold / gain). I recorded some more data today which happens to be one of the more hotter days up here. Most will laugh, but we hit mid-90s today which only happens a few weeks per year where I live. In any case, I do see lower IAT's but it's still not as low as I would expect. After spraying 75% methanol the intake temp was measuring 84 ℉ which was about 9 ℉ below ambient. I'm not complaining but I'd like to hear what others are seeing on their R56's. I know I could try 100% meth and I plan on tweaking the threshold and gain a little. I'm still curious to hear what others are experiencing.

Meth is your friend if you want to cool inlet temps quicker... Try logging a 2nd through 4th WOT pull....I'd be curious to see how it reacts having more time to spray. Personally, IAT's have become completely irrelevant to me now. Even with it after the t-MAP, I'll rarely see greater than 5 above ambient. But, it's comforting in my mind to know that the air going into the cylinder is actually much cooler than the car says and thinks it is...I don't think I'm even going to move the jet before the t-MAP anymore. I like where it is. Trying to keep the motor safe is my #1 priority with this kit. Any added power is merely a side benefit to me at this point. 2006 MINI Cooper S JCW GP (R53)--GP #1599 -RMW FUNstick Cam, RMW Shorty Header, RMW 450cc inj 2014 MINI Cooper (F56)--Midnight Black |

RE: Aquamist HFS-3 and MINI Tank GB
Chris, I am seeing the same thing. An impressive temp graph might be obtained on a really hot day on a track comparing with and without meth.
What I am noticing with Meth is more power, low IAT, detonation protection, cooling fan running only a very short after a hard run, and a better engine sound. I would like to graph all of that. 2010 MCS - RMW Tune, JCW Stage 1 CAI, Helix FMIC, Akropovic High Flow DP, JCW Mid Pipe, JCW Stage 1 Muffler, 17x7 O.Z.
