I didn't say it wouldn't need different settings, I'm saying that based on the IDC numbers that the R56 sees, and how quickly the injectors pulse, whether you have a MCS, JCW or tuned JCW, the gain setting won't change too much. The flow rate that the HFS achieves is dependent on boost or IDC alone, not how much heat you're making. The OPTIMAL settings are, as you say, based on the individual needs of a particular car (boost, ambient temp, intercooler size, compression ratio, ECU tune, etc).
You don't want to have the gain on so high that the system flows 100% DC before you hit redline. You want it to flow around 90-95% of flow around redline (AS A BASELINE). From there on, you can tune it on a dyno based on the individual car. 80% refers to the water duty cycle, and you might find that your car benefits from a water/meth flow rate of 80% of max water duty cycle.
