Baffling will let you run the tank lower before the risk of getting air in the pump due to sloshing, which you don't want to do. This is usually used by the track guys to get maximum out of the tank and keep air from getting in the system. Here is a video of what the fluid looks like both a non and baffled tank. Baffle Video Scroll down a little to the video. Top mount penetrations means the tank tap, and the level switch are placed in the top of the tank, instead of the bottom and side. The standard methods we use greatly minimize the chance of a leak occurring, (a vendor fitting has leaked in the past) but putting all the holes for the tank in the top basically minimizes the chance of the tank leaking. Remember, there is still tubing running down to the pump etc. So nothing is guaranteed, just another method of minimizing something can occur. |
