TVS Final Prototypes
True... Lower gears are not always better. The higher HP you build the motor to, you are going to want the longer gears, or you will just be in power for a second then bouncing off the limiter... Again and again... Lower gears are also going to place more stress on the axles, hubs, CV joints, pretty much everything after the final drive gears. Gears after all are a torque multiplier.
I barber poled (twisted like a candy cane) the original driveshaft on my old Samurai... With a whole 50 HP to the ground and stock open 3.73 gears in the axles... I put a 6.5:1 transfer case behind the trans though. I locked it into 1 Low without the front hubs locked, dumped the clutch at 4500 RPM, pulled the front end a foot or so off the ground, and then came the noises nobody wants to hear... Gears, not HP DID IT! Sent from 2 cans and a string... Easily agitated, Half way retarded, and mentally unstable... Cant put up with it? SUCK MY RICHARD!! |
