While I can't say it's an issue, or related to the WSS, I can't say the cigarette lighter is the best place for the power tap. The unit will draw 1.25amps max, and 1 amp of that is PWM the valve. You need a large "sink" for the power and ground to make sure everything works right, because the back EMF form the coil on the valve is noisy. This is why the molex connector has two ground wires that need to be grounded individually to a good chassis point. Historically, we've seen many strange issues crop up from cigarette lighter and clock circuit installs. As for as the ECU, the only two wires really required to make the system function are the two FI taps. The MAP wire is not required so if you want to disconnect this to start troubleshooting it won't hurt. The red wire of the gray connector is just to turn the system on, so it needs a 12V switched source, the ECU is good because it's switched ON at the right time.
