It looks to me like the vent hose fitting is on the top of the tank right about the level the tank is draining down to. Sounds like somehow the vent got some fluid in it and acts as a siphon now. slip a piece of 1/4" ID rubber tube over the vent and blow a little to clear the line and get it out and it should stop this. May have been the tank was very topped off and if the car was on a good nose down slope the line got a little fluid in it.
