If I could find 4/gal i'd be happy. Jan said it was $40/5gal tank.... =\ So it was kind of funny because I didn't call or anything before I went to ERC. It was Jeff who told me that they were good guys and carried pure methanol. So I stopped by on my way to work intending on buying just a couple of 1 gallon jugs. He politely said that the smallest they could sell me was 5 gallons. I didn't want to spend too much but I said fine, how much is it? When he told me the price I was contemplating getting a couple of pails...but that would not go over too well with the Chief Domestic Officer. Or would you get that anyway with straight methanol? Methanol is a pretty good solvent...so I think it does a lot of the cleaning. Not sure, it all depends on how far the ECU can adjust fuel trims. I haven't datalogged above 75/25. Next tank I can do another log with 100% and see what AFR's do. Jet size and location plays a role here too.... Yes, if you are tuned for a specific mixture, you are going to get the best results from that mixture and that mixture only. I'm not tuned for meth, but the adapatability in the R56 ECU is proving to be interesting. I've only played with it from 50% meth and up, have not gone the other direction at all...not sure how much it'd adjust to higher water concentrations. Some people swear by 100% meth, some by 100% water. I know a few Evo guys that love 100% water. Granted you definitely have to be tuned for pure water and from what I know, its not as easy to tune 100% water as it is 100% meth. Water will work best in a high boost, high compression application with a strong iginition system. Both have their specific advantages and useful properties, which is why running around 50/50 will give you a wide range of benefits 2006 MINI Cooper S JCW GP (R53)--GP #1599 -RMW FUNstick Cam, RMW Shorty Header, RMW 450cc inj 2014 MINI Cooper (F56)--Midnight Black |

Running too rich would be the ecu, which i don't believe should happen with the meth we are running, but don't quote me on that. If you tune for meth and run out, the HFS-3 fail safe should come into play and put you in limp mode. A good question would be how to get ourselves out of limp mode...? |

RE: Aquamist HFS-3 and MINI Tank GB
That would be a plane trip I'm afraid. I live in Australia....
However, my beer would be worth the trip. BTW, based on my calculations, to run 50/50 meth/water by weight, you would need 56% meth and 44% water by volume. Couldn't source any oxygenated meth, not for a lack of trying. (08-31-2011 11:35 AM)silhouette88 Wrote: Maybe a road trip to where etalj lives? That way you can try out his homebrewed beer too! lol |
