Shouldn't the methanol cool the charge air based on a % of ambient rather than % methanol cooling to a *F? Thats to say 100% methanol will cool to 65F whether it be 80*F or 115*F ambient? If ambient is 55F, and IAT's rise to 110*F, shouldn't the methanol be able to cool the 110*F IAT? The 110 should then be resembled of what its "taking in from outside" no? Even though ambient is clearly still 65, the compressor and fmic are supplying 110F, and the meth never knows its 65F outside...? I could be completely off but logically thats how I think about it. To me the meth cools the air it sees, regardless of whats ambient. If its seeing 110F, it should be cooling the 110F air, not the ambient 65 air outside. I swear I saw people's data logs of 50/50 cooling the IATs? Thanks for continuting to educate me, i'm still trying to learn! Sorry, you wrote 65/35 w/m in the first post. The ultimate temperature you can cool to is limited by the boiling points of methanol and water. A few general observations we have seen over the years:
Water is less effective at cooling in a humid environment. Methanol works better. 100% water will only cool to about 160F, regardless of ambient. 100% methanol will cool to about 65F in if spraying enough. This will depend on where you temp sensor is in the inlet track and many other variables. If you have a good IC that is performing a good deal of cooling, there is less heat load available, and the water is a greater hindrance to forcing IAT's lower. IAT's will be higher in the summer, so spraying the right amount of meth for cooling in summer may be too much in the winter when you IAT's are lower. More liquid methanol will get in the chamber and could cause misfires. Water helps the in-chamber temp issues, but does not allow IAT's to cool as much as some would like to see. In a 56, probably no misfires, but as a general rule it could happen.

Jeff in this case what would you recommend for winter setup in the northeast? We see 45-65 deg right now and can b 0-40f in the winter. Should I just keep it off or maybe drop the gain and up water?
Also. So based on the circumstances you don't think there's anything wrong with the system and I shouldn't need to troubleshoot? I will run 50/50 so it won't freeze. I will still get the cleaning effect of the water. I will turn the gain down to about 11 go to a 0.6 jet. On your second question, if your only concern is the IAT then don't worry. If you are getting flow and have checked it per the checkout into a bottle so you know your flow then you are good to go in my opinion. It is 42 in the mornings here in the burbs of Philly and I run 100% meth and a 0.8 jet.
(255 hp / 200 tq RMW powered) All I can say is my ride to work is a lot of fun but twisty roads and deer not so much fun. My morning run to work is like Hellbender with 2 stop signs, solution to the deer........two big air horns. Carry on.... Haha. I topped it off with meth yesterday and while iat is still reaching 100, I can see it climbs much slower than when it'd normally spike. Plus I'm noticing a lot more torque steer now, so higher octane is def noticeable.
I think for the winter I will run about a 75/25 meth/water mix, which is what I'll aim to run normally... And instead I'll turn the gain down so it comes on slower for octane boost and do more cooling up top when it really gets hot. Or is it the flow restrictor that helps it come on easily and the gain is more for how much comes on up top? To be honest I wouldnt think twice running 100% if it was cheaper here. It steepens the slope of the spray curve. Regardless of where it is set it will always start spraying at a 1:1 injector ratio and then either increase or decrease in ratio depending on where you have it set.
