well...........there might be a reason they won't come to the track to run against us.........one for fear of failure and 2 for how bad they will get beat.......

I just went and watched a video of Dicks Garage mini...for one the gauges on the dash are a little much. Anyways it says 10K in the air, im about 7K in the air and I feel like my M45 pulls MUCH harder then that. The rate that the engine makes power doesnt even slow down till 5th gear it feels like. That looks like it was just getting to hot after 3rd

I don't think he's every going to take that thing to the track. For longetivities sake, it's probably the right decision. I think it's cool what he's trying to do, but it's not looking so good for a track setup, save perhaps the dragstrip. Not a whole lot of people doing that on this side of the pond though....I applaud the effort, but something tells me this isn't going to have a happy ending.

Really be interesting when some folks start running some of the smaller pulleys.

I was going to comment on all the gauges in the thread--something to the effect that with all those gauges there, good thing it's not going to the track, you'd never be able to find the apex. Maybe Mynes will make him a periscope? Thought better of it though, didn't want another war.

Yea I started typing a post but then thought better of it...

Think it's very telling that he's already looking at an oil cooler for the SC oil...Rolleyes

Honestly guys, ya just wouldn't believe how hot that thing was getting on Ian's car at the UTCC last year. No one is exaggerating.

as I had told the guys in the UK last Dec that the temps spike exponentially when the ambient climbs and the bearings will not handle it as these blowers being sold are economy blowers NOT race type blowers. First heat wave in the Uk in awhile on the track day weekend and the blower had 2,000 miles on it of hard use with the small pulley and full bearing seizure.........

the best is when people who haven't tested it in the weather we have nor have they pushed it as hard sit there and argue with you.......then say you don't know what you are doing........ it's like a monkey on the organ grinder

Ya Dicks car is definitely not my cup of tea. But...he is making it the way he wanted.

Won't keep my from commenting about the gauges. I don't get the way too many gauge's thing. You end up flying the car like a pilot rather then driving it.. At every stop light they spend the whole time looking at them and analyzing shit.

Have you seen Nitro's car? He has more gauges and switches then a Kenworth and the crazy red and black everywhere looks like he fashioned it after an 80's metal band.

You have got to post a link to that comment Big Grin

I totally understand that some people will never see track time. I think I have been to the track once with the Mini. I should do it more. However, I still want to build my car so it is usable in any condition thrown at it. Actually makes the car more OEM in a way Cool

HAHA. Yeah it was a little much. I dont really seeing needing that many. Shit my EVO with about 4 times the power of the mini has three.

I don't doubt hes looking for a oil cooler. In his video it looks like it pulls the first gear or two fine then just starts getting WAY WAY to hot. Losing power, not just off the hot air but the charger using more engine power to turn as it gets hotter.
