RE: Aquamist HFS-3 and MINI Tank GB
It's a little bit hard to get straight methanol here in Turkey after the latest restrictions on its sale. That said, is it possible to use the windshield wiper as an alternative? I know this has been asked around and I know it's a way lower meth concentration but I'm more interested in the downsides of it having some dye.. Assuming I place the nozzle right after the intercooler, would I have any issues on the dye getting burned in the engine?

I don't think the die poses a threat to the engine so much as the components in the meth system. ill defer to Howerton engineering for this one for sure though.

RE: Aquamist HFS-3 and MINI Tank GB
The dye is OK if it doesn't get excessive. I've seen the pink dye in the Snow boost juice leave behind pink gunk after a while.
Down in South America they can't get methanol, but have an abundance of ethanol, while not quite as good, it is still better than anything else. The water meth mix in general isn't bad, but the MINI ignition system isn't strong enough to light off a lot of water, so too much and misfires will occur. We will be putting together a questionnaire in the next few days and posting it up for everyone to download and fill out. We will supply the proper jetting for a range of fluids for each person. |

So basically it's usable but not preferred. Good enough for me but I'll have to ask around to get some pure meth at some point. I have one more question if you don't mind. Is the system capable of manual shut downs? I mean, is it possible to shut down the system and use the car like the WMI system doesn't exist? I read somewhere that it'll put the ECU into the limp mode but wanted to get the exact answer from the source.. |

There is a button on the face of the gauge which turns the system ON/OFF. On the 53 with stock ECU you would need to change your tune, on a standalone, it should switch automatically. On the 56, it depends if you have the wastegate tied in for safety, but you can configure the controller to be invisible at that point as well. The 56 to a certain degree will auto adjust the fueling, but excessive boost could be an issue. |

I read somewhere that it'll put the ECU into the limp mode but wanted to get the exact answer from the source.. I have a 2010 R56 with the 181hp 2011 engine That said, I don't think there has been a tune for the 2011 engine yet and I don't plan on getting a tune at this point anyways. The meth kit will be the first serious engine mod, I'll start building from that point on. The other stuff I have are all suspension based with just an intake and downpipe back exhaust. So basically, the stock ECU should adjust to on/off status which would also mean it'd adjust conservatively to the colder IATs as well..? |
