Hey Jeff,

I wish I would have gotten the Canton rather then the Forged. What make's the Canton so cool is you can use a real radiator cap. Thats a good thing as the stock caps suck.

The bad news with any aluminum tank is... it's aluminum. When you sit in traffic that tank sitting over the top of the header starts to heat soak. The tank gets super hot which in-turn cook's the coolant.

I may go back to stock.

I've gone through two tanks and caps. Two weeks ago I stopped the car, and while idling the coolant was pouring out like it had no cap on. They are just too unreliable.

The Canton hasn't shown yet, 3 week B/O. Hopefully in the next 5 days.

My car runs so cold the heat won't both me. Besides, you got all that space age stuff, you can't reflect a little heat?

I wish I knew about the Canton when I bought my forge. What is nice also is that if it ever boils over it doesn't dump it in the engine bay. You attach an additional overflow pipe.

RE: Forge or GTT Alloy Header Tank ?
I have the canton on my car. It seems expensive at first glance, but those factory ones last such a short time eventually you spend the same amount on them. I notice they sell 30 lb caps which might seem high, but I think I ended up with a 25lb cap as the others would pop all the time. Maybe it is a 30lber, but it sure isn't 14 or any old school pressure.

That's why the factory ones leak, it is a lot of pressure in there. Designed to fail without much (or any) margin for error.

I never thought of that, but to be fair, I hardly ever get stuck in traffic. It would seem to me that you should be able to insulate the thing to make it comparable to stock as far as thermal properties go. They have such good high tech stuff these days. Even if you just did the bottom (which shouldn't effect looks) you should gain a lot of ground temps wise.

Anyone know where to buy that space age heat reflective stuff that Jan has on the new FMIC Rotrex unit's air box?
