While I can't say it's an issue, or related to the WSS, I can't say the cigarette lighter is the best place for the power tap. The unit will draw 1.25amps max, and 1 amp of that is PWM the valve. You need a large "sink" for the power and ground to make sure everything works right, because the back EMF form the coil on the valve is noisy. This is why the molex connector has two ground wires that need to be grounded individually to a good chassis point.

Historically, we've seen many strange issues crop up from cigarette lighter and clock circuit installs.

As for as the ECU, the only two wires really required to make the system function are the two FI taps. The MAP wire is not required so if you want to disconnect this to start troubleshooting it won't hurt. The red wire of the gray connector is just to turn the system on, so it needs a 12V switched source, the ECU is good because it's switched ON at the right time.

Tank leak?
When I fill my tank above about 7/8 full it is leaking out until the tank level drops to about 7/8 full. I don't think this could be normal. Anyone else see this? I'm about to pull the tank assembly to see if I can find the leak.
Now that I'm looking at the tank I think it's just coming out the vent hose. I'll just be careful not to fill the tank to the rim next time.

The vent is in the front of the tank. So unless inclined it shouldn't unless the hose is full and siphons out. We can put a CV in the line that is a push-pull and works well, but costs a bit more.

There is a small baffle at the inlet of the vent so a lot of fluid should not get in the line normally. Does this happen right as you fill, or after driving?


One more thought. Are you filling with a funnel that is sealing to the top neck of the tank? In may not seem like it does, but if it provides a light seal, it will create an air lock and the filling will just pour out the vent line. If we have a CV int he vent line, it would just back up into the funnel, but drop creating a big mess, been there before.

It's right when I fill the tank. I did use a funnel but held it up to see the tank level. There's no way it was making a seal. It looks to me like the vent hose fitting is on the top of the tank right about the level the tank is draining down to.

Sounds like somehow the vent got some fluid in it and acts as a siphon now. slip a piece of 1/4" ID rubber tube over the vent and blow a little to clear the line and get it out and it should stop this. May have been the tank was very topped off and if the car was on a good nose down slope the line got a little fluid in it.

As I said, if this is an issue we have a CV that can be put on the outlet of the line to seal it up.
