The shafts would pop through the case before they broke and frizbee'd a gear through it. I've broke a couple transmissions/transfer cases like this, it's not a verry fun experiance. One on my 2nd Honda CRX threw the secondary trans shaft through the clutch and luckally the flywheel stopped it, or who knows it mighta taken out the engine too.

Well I did kill the gears in my TC and my center diff in the EVO pretty hard. Im not worried about it. The gears look pretty beefy in it. Shift forks might need to be redone but gears look good to go I think. We will see soon enough.

As long as the caps for the shafts on the case can deal with that sudden side load from the HP levels you are talking about the gears will be fine.
