Finally good news on N18 and F56 cars
Its going to take more than a space heater Dave... The garage is a 24X32 and no insulation in the ceiling yet. Sad I have been trying to find an old working swamp cooler for a couple years, so I can turn it into a propane burner furnace...

Colin the Dragon is still 4 months away, and if something goes horribly wrong, like the Donor motor being a brick, I cant afford to get another one anyhow. I dont expect much problem with anything though.

Back on topic, It will be really interesting to me to see what these F56 motors can do. Im sure it will be big power.

But they are just so ugly!

I really wish they woulda started putting the 2.0 in the R60.

Heres my take on what is possible with Jan doing OBD N-18 tuning...
Power! The stock map sensors are good to 21psi of boost, the stock internals are questionable with even that pressure, but raising boost is going to net the biggest power gains. The dual VANOS system on the N-18's might also be able to squeeze a couple more ponies out if the engagement points can be changed with a tune.
Hopefully there will be enough adjustment in the throttle (pedal) mapping to get things normal.
And we can expect Jan to smooth things out quite a bit better than the stock maps.

Add this ability to some of the new hardware he has made available over the last year... Heads, cam's, possibilities of bigger (reasonably sized) turbos, and the all important non glass pistons, and the N-18 could finally see over 300HP to the ground on an honest dyno.

It's about time!

RE: Finally good news on N18 and F56 cars
Jan let me know when you want my F56 Smile The 3 cyl continues to impress me everyday...can only imagine how good it will be with proper tune.

I actually have the JB tune on it now and it works alright for what it is...I'd say its close in power to a stock R56 S. I'm dying for a proper tune though to change the boost behavior....how the car makes boost in stock form is really inconsistent and funky. This is just magnified with the JB
