Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think both Jeff and Jan have fuel cells installed, not the same plastic tank Howerton sells. But I still don't think it's that big a deal.

Bryan (Longboard) has the plastic, common-folk tank and I'm pretty sure he runs 100% at all times...

Wish I could be enjoying my methanol.....just dumped a fresh dose in the tank.

Oh but wait, I have 0 need for it considering my car won't run above 7 psi. Angry

Maybe your car just knows you went through a motor already and wants to protect this new one. Tongue

Agreed. But that said....I do have mine on the left and wouldn't hesitate to put it on that side again. Wire can easily be run on either side...so it is completely up to you guys!

Jeff showed me another good reason to mount it on the left. Since it's cleaner to run all the lines on the right side (R56) you'll end up with a few feet of line that you'll tuck under the floor board. This makes it easier if you need to lift the tank out for any reason, you can just leave all the lines connected and you have plenty of slack to work with. Jeff is one smart cookie.

Lol....its just trying to be a Cooper.

I honestly have no clue what its deal is now. Checked all tubes and connections, see no leaks...Gonna swap a different DV in and see if that might be the culprit. No codes, runs perfectly fine...except no boost lol ugh...

Would hate to find out its the wastegate..... Undecided but then that just means I'll get the turbo re-done Smile

OT but has anyone run an external waste gate on our cars? Or is that a no go?

lol...try getting that to play nicely with the ECU

I just want to bleed off this stupid boost, I'm so sick of hitting the throttle and going nowhere, especially in situations needing the power to maneuver out of a sticky situation. I'm having doubts the wm will actually solve it. And it may seem so when I get it cuz days are 70f now, def cooler, so I prob won't see it again till next summer, though once iat hits round 100 even with 66f ambient, it cuts.

Seeing that thr boost usually builds and cuts before the car even starts to accelerate, the wm spray isn't gonna have the iat read it in time before it's already cut due to high IATs from normal cursing with non wm activation.

RE: Aquamist HFS-3 and MINI Tank GB - silhouette88 - 08-25-2011 05:18 PM

Out of curiosity, do you get the cut whether sports is on or off? I haven't been able to trigger a boost cut with sports off, yet. The odd thing in my situation was that the ambient temp was crazy low, like mid 50's, and when I accelerated in 3rd it triggered immediately. I've never triggered a boost cut before the w/m, so either I was very unlucky or the ECU wanted to give more boost because it thought it could?

RE: Aquamist HFS-3 and MINI Tank GB - BostonR56S - 08-25-2011 05:23 PM

Yup. It's not even always wot either. Wot with sports on/off is the same, but I can quickly accelerate to 75% throttle and it can still start to build then car just dips and boost reduces to 5

RE: Aquamist HFS-3 and MINI Tank GB - silhouette88 - 08-25-2011 05:32 PM

OK, sounds different from what I experienced. Mine didn't just reduce boost to wastegate, it cut fuel for a second and I *think* my boost went to <0. I say "think" because it was an abrupt cut and I thought I may have broken something. But power eventually returned and it's been fine ever since. When it happened my sports was on and throttle was only about 75% also.

Sounds like a possible misfire?
